"Digitised material from Rowntree & Co. Ltd's 'Aero Girls' advertising campaign, held in the Borthwick Institute for Archives at the University of York. The collection comprises original oil portrait paintings of young women by the artist Anthony Devas, commissioned for the campaign in the 1950s, together with two advertising proof guardbooks (S10 and W20) compiled by the J. Walter Thompson Company (JWT). The guardbooks contain press advertisement proofs from the 'Different' campaign, which ran across national newspapers and magazines including the Daily Express, Daily Herald, News of the World, Picture Post, John Bull, and Everybody's Weekly. The campaign was created when Rowntree relaunched the Aero chocolate bar into the UK confectionery market following a pause in production during World War II. Rights held by Nestlé UK. Published by the University of York."
